CraftStone
One way to make your walls look interesting is to add texture through CraftStone. As its name suggest, the artificial stone mimics the crevices and bumps. At whatever distance you stand, there’s little difference between CraftStones and the real ones.
Here’s a picture of one of our projects using CraftStone for a HDB dining room. In this Serangoon home, the white uneven bricks created a homey and clean effect. This is one way to take the Scandinavian theme up a notch.

A stucco wall gives you the feel of quarried stone without the hefty price tag. Made out of a fine plaster or cement, stucco is commonly used as a wall covering or just for decoration.

Veneer
A thin layer of quality wood is glued atop a surface, wood veneers exude an exotic feel without an exorbitant price. This material can be either be painted over or stained for an array of suitable finishing options.
Laminate
Wallpaper
Wallpaper is a great way to add pizzazz to a feature wall. Easy to apply, wallpaper is also extremely durable. Unlike walls which need a fresh coat of paint every few years, wallpaper requires little maintenance.
Do note that once the wallpaper’s been applied, you’re stuck with it for life. Quite literally. Before choosing this option, be mindful that removing the wallpaper won’t be easy and will cost you a pretty penny.
Cement screed
If you think wallpaper is too common and stone walls are too lavish for your liking, consider the industrial style. The cool grey appearance of the wall is free from any treatment. To retain the original look, a cement screed is applied to the wall to. This enhances its water-proof quality and makes it easy to clean. All you need is a little soap and water.

Notice how the wall does not using a single type of material? Introduce tiles to break up the monotony of cement screed, toning down the seriousness of the industrial look.
Wood
Wood panels are becoming popular in Singapore as it adds an earthy element to the interior. The visual detail in wood also adds a layer of visual intrigue, making it a welcome change from a plain concrete wall, or repetitive wallpaper patterns.

Despite the hardy industrial interior of this HDB, our designers incorporated all the feels of an oasis with this green wall. Although this green wall was made out of artificial plants, the simple greenery lighten ups the atmosphere.
