Modern, dark and alluring.
These are words used to describe the transformed HDB resale home post-renovation. Shedding its predecessor’s flamboyant mix of brightly coloured interior design, the freshly installed modern dark interior is surprisingly refreshing. The dark walnut coloured vinyl flooring pair well with the warm grey painted walls. Similarly, darker hued furniture complement the interior design theme.
A budget of $55K was used to complete the HDB renovation transformation at Punggol Topaz.
MODERN
DARK
In the long, narrow HDB kitchen, interior designer Natasha Koh suggests for a galley kitchen. Ample top and bottom shelving units and niches provide lots of storage. Moreover, the extended L-shaped bar counter with lower storage extends into the living room for additional seating space.
Thus, effectively creating a cohesive open concept solution between the kitchen, dining and living rooms.
True to modern design, clean lines from the kitchen HDB carpentry impress a clean, sleek look. Add to this, the dark walnut wood with black kitchen cabinet laminates, and the grey white-veined marble backsplash. That’s how an alluring modern dark interior design is achieved!
SENSUOUS
CHARACTER
At the end of the hallway is the revamped HDB master bedroom. Notice the doorframes and doors have also been painted in glossy black to create a moody atmosphere.
Dividing the room into a bedroom and a vanity area is a customised, full height wardrobe. This configuration of space makes up for the lack of space in the HDB for a dedicated walk in wardrobe.
To minimise any potential visual cramping effect, mirrored sliding doors help to double up the space. Furthermore, light bouncing off the LED mirror and downlight help to breathe life and air into the dimly lit space.
Extensive hacking was carried out to remove the original HDB tiles in both bathrooms. In its place, are grey veined marble tiles which adds a level of sophistication.
SPACE SAVING
Both HDB toilets are fitted with a customised vanity mirror cabinet and a floating tic tac storage cabinets beneath the sink. These bespoke solutions not only maximise space in the small toilets but their suspension further emphasises the illusion of space.
